History

Clavis Pharma ASA was incorporated in Norway on 30 August 2001, and in 2006 the Company completed an initial public offering and the shares were listed on Oslo Stock Exchange (ticker: CLAVIS).

The history behind the core technology of Clavis Pharma goes far beyond the incorporation of the Company. The Norwegian company Norsk Hydro has been a leading force within the commercial lipid research and development field, since the late 1980s, and was responsible for developing the LVT technology. By combining its extensive lipid expertise with pharmaceutical know-how, Norsk Hydro was able to invent new drugs through chemical synthesis of various lipids with existing drugs - this is the technological platform that Clavis Pharma is now harvesting across a broad range of therapeutic areas.

NeoMed Management, an international medical technology venture firm with offices in Oslo and Geneva, founded Clavis Pharma which acquired all rights to the LVT-related assets and activities from Norsk Hydro in 2001. As lead investor in Clavis Pharma, NeoMed Management was instrumental in developing the Company’s clinical development strategy and attracting MVM Life Science Partners LLP, a London and Boston based dedicated life science investor, and Braganza, a Norwegian private investment company, which invested in the Company alongside NeoMed in two subsequent private placements.

In June 2006 the Company completed a private placement and a subsequent initial public offering, and the shares were listed on Oslo Stock Exchange from July 2006. In total, approximately NOK 680 million has been raised since 2001, including a private placement of NOK 154 million in November 2010, on top of Norsk Hydro's significant investments prior to 2001.
